TYCA music festival for young people. 

We are thrilled to have taken part in the TYCA festival organised by Arts Taunton in March 2022.Simon Chalk coached and conducted the TYCA orchestra, created by young musicians from CYMA and several local schools. They were joined by section leads from Southern Sinfonia in the first performance, commissioned by TYCA, of 'Concerto Grosso' from composer Josh Hathaway. Josh spent his childhood in Taunton and attended Richard Huish College, where his exceptional musical talent was discovered and nurtured.

Care Home Concerts

Taunton Charter Trustees awarded us a grant to give concerts in two Care Homes, in the Unparished area of Taunton, so that residents who are unable to travel could benefit from Southern Sinfonia Orchestra's uplifting music, and have time for discussions with our musicians.  
Performances took place in July 2022 and were greatly enjoyed by audiences and musicians alike. Our grateful thanks to Taunton Charter Trustees for making these concerts possible.
